Greenwich Liberal Democrats have announced that Sonia Dunlop will be contesting the upcoming Greenwich West by-election on May 7th, the same day as the General Election.
Sonia currently works for the Solar Trade Association in London. Before this, Sonia spent over five years working in the European Parliament on renewable energy policy, including two years working for the Liberal Democrat MEP Sarah Ludford.
With a passion for environmental issues, Sonia will work tirelessly to "increase the share of renewable energy and decrease the shocking levels of air pollution and Thames sewage pollution in our city".
A Greenwich West resident, Sonia will provide the ward with a much needed alternative voice for residents, raising questions and fighting for the voters in a way that Labour councillors in a Labour-run council do not.
Sonia Dunlop: "I am delighted to have this opportunity to campaign for change for Greenwich West."
"As someone who lives in Greenwich and works right by Charing Cross, I feel our area's severed transport connections particularly keenly. We need more river services, a better foot tunnel and better infrastructure for cyclists."
"I am immensely proud of everything the Liberal Democrats in Government have done to create a more open, tolerant and equal country, giving more money to the children who need it most and cleaning up Labour's economic mess."
