The Parliamentary By-Election in Lewisham East is a real chance to elect another Lib Dem MP. Labour had a large majority there in the last election, but the national Labour Party's position (or lack thereof) on Brexit, Corbyn's politics in general, and the furore around the candidate selection have contributed to a lot of voters being willing to vote Lib Dem.
But to ensure undecideds vote for a local Lib Dem, and that Labour and Conservative voters 'lend us their vote' to send a message to Westminster, the Lewisham Party needs as many volunteers as possible. The last time this happened (with Sarah Olney's win in the Richmond Park by-election), we saw a surge in the polls nationally.
You can go as and when suits you, but every weekend we will have an organised Greenwich Borough trip, with a contact person you can meet up with on the day. There will be a range of activities (clerical work, envelope-writing and -filling, delivering, door-knocking). They had 100s of activists the first weekend, and we want to do our part to help too; in the future, I hope we will be in a similar position to request help from outside our Borough.
I'll be at the base from 12noon. Text me if you can't make the start, or just turn up at the HQ - they will give you a warm welcome and direct you.
