We are working with Greenwich Opposition to bring forward cycling and walking measures in Greenwich in order to help with social distancing and restrictions on public travel due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Three weeks ago £250 million was announced by the Department for Transport for safer and socially distanced walking and cycling. This was intended to prevent gridlock with private cars and a higher risk of infection on public transport through overcrowding. £225 million for infrastructure and £25 million for cycle repairs. The deadline for councils to bid for the funds was Friday 5th June 2020. You can still send your ideas on safer routes etc you think would make it more likely for you to walk/ cycle instead of taking the car.
What can you do?
Write to your local councillors (see here for their contact details) and the relevant portfolio holders (Sizwe James firstname.lastname@example.org), asking them for specific local changes which would allow safer walking/cycling for your area and/or school on email (& twitter).
