Kirstie Shedden - Shooters Hill by-election candidate
Local campaigner Kirstie Shedden selected as the Lib Dem candidate for Shooters Hill ward for the 26 June Royal Borough of Greenwich council by-election.
The by-election for Shooters Hill ward will take place on Thursday 26 June and Greenwich Borough Lib Dems are delighted to announce that our local party chair, Kirstie Shedden, has been selected as our candidate. Kirstie has lived in Shooters Hill for nearly 30 years and will be a great local champion for the ward. She announced her candidacy by saying:
I'm delighted to be standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Shooters Hill in the upcoming council by-election. I have lived and worked in Greenwich for over thirty years and, if elected, will use my local knowledge and experience on behalf of local residents. I am passionate about protecting the environment and promoting a fair deal for all residents.
Labour has taken voters for granted in Shooters Hill. Selling off precious open land and buildings that could be used for community use without consultation shows that Labour isn’t listening to residents. The callous disposal of Green Garth, part of the Shrewsbury House listed estate and the Equestrian Centre, our Olympic legacy, without consultation shows that Labour isn’t listening to residents in our local neighbourhood.
In national government, Labour’s record has been disappointing. Their benefit cuts are hurting poorer families across the country. They have raised employers' national insurance contributions which damage small companies and increase costs for vital businesses such as care homes.
As a Liberal Democrat I will listen to residents and work on their behalf to challenge Labour to do better.
Kirstie will be out knocking on doors, delivering and doing a residents' survey - if you can help with her campaign please sign up on our Events page.

Can you help Kirstie's campaign?
We will be organising regular campaign sessions and action days - the first of which is on Sunday 1st June from 2-4pm when we will be focussing on leaflet delivery. Or, why not collect leaflets to deliver in your own time?
All elections cost money to deliver and this election wasn't expected - if you can't help by campaigning or leafletting, any donations will be very much appreciated.
